Mumbai: Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd, the realty arm of the Mahindra & Mahindra group, has received India’s first Platinum – Pre-Certificate rating for Mahindra Splendour, Mumbai under the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Homes rating system. The certificate was presented by senior people from IGBC at the Green Building Congress 2008 held in Mumbai today.

On receiving the award, Mr. Pawan Malhotra said ‘We are delighted to know that our focus in customer centricity and ability to develop sustainable buildings has brought us this novel and prestigious award; furthermore, it has brought up the social cause amidst the builder’s community to put forward the proposal to the government to make it mandatory to only make green buildings henceforth'.

There are different levels of green building certification like certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum that are awarded to recognize the level of achievement. Platinum rating is awarded to recognize the Global leadership. The design concept, scope & technical specifications of Mahindra Splendour were developed to meet the rigorous parameters laid down by the Green homes rating system for a Platinum-level building and the same was incorporated in the design documentation. Particular care was taken in the design for building orientation and landscape, emphasis on daylight, indoor air quality, energy conservation measures and alternative energy, selection of building materials, sewage treatment and recycling of water, rainwater harvesting and waste management practices.
